The Chase fans slam show for ‘robbing’ contestant of point by not accepting ‘correct answer’

Harsh, but fair?

The Chase viewers were up in arms this week, when they believed a contestant was ‘robbed’ of winning a point by super strict host Bradley Walsh.

On Thursday afternoon (July 25), Bradley denied the team a vital point during the final chaser, despite those watching from home insisting the answer was correct and should have been accepted.

The ITV quiz show saw Emily, Lucie, Nick and Will join forces in the hope of beating one of the country’s finest quiz brains – in this case, Shaun Wallace.

Three of them, minus Emily, were able to return to the team and take part in the final chase, opposite Shaun – aka The Dark Destroyer.

However, one of the questions caused controversy – and left viewers angry with the show’s decision.

In the tense quick-fire round, repeated from 2016, Bradley asked: “What do Americans call a stroller?”

When contestant Lucie confidently answered by saying “a pram”, her answer was refused by Bradley who said she was incorrect.

He went on to say that the correct answer was “pushchair”.

However, this infuriated some viewers who said there was no difference.

One raged: “Surely a pram and pushchair are the same thing?? Bit harsh there Bradley!!! #thechase.”

Another added: “If only #TheChase would realise that pram and pushchair are synonyms.”

A third said: “Pram and pushchair are the same? #TheChase.”

“Absolute robbery not giving Lucie a point for pram,” blasted another, while one more tweeted: “Pram = perambulator = stroller.”

One more typed: “Harsh. Should have given her pram.”

However, some DID side with Bradley.

One wrote: “Bradley is right. A pram is not a stroller, same as a pushchair is not a pram.”

And another said: “To be fair, a pram and buggy are different things #TheChase.”

One fan pointed out the differences, explaining that “pram, child lies on back. Pushchair, child is seated”.

So now we know!

Luckily, the final chase did not hinge on this one point, and the threesome managed to beat Shaun to the £30,000.

Lucie, Nick and Will all walked away with £10,000 each. Although we doubt a pram or pushchair will be on their list of things to buy with their hard-earned cash!
