Tess Daly makes “awkward” blunder on Strictly Come Dancing

Fans at home said she ruined the moment

Tess Daly has been presenting Strictly since it started, but that doesn’t stop her making mistakes.

And viewers were in stitches last night when she tried to get Jonnie Peacock to do a smouldering look to the camera but got very flustered over exactly which camera he should be looking in to!

Jonnie had been advised to have acting lessons the previous week by judge Craig Revel Horwood. And it looked like they had paid off when the Paralympian impressed the panel with his facial expressions.

As he finished his quickstep, Tess told him: “Go on then, just do the little flirt with the camera thing,” and Jonnie dutifully obliged.

But then Tess pointed and said; “Right down there,” actually directing him away from the camera.

The thing was, Jonnie had got it right in the first place and Tess was the one confusing the issue!

It wasn’t the only gaffe on last night’s show, as head judge Shirley Ballas also made a mistake moments later when critiquing Jonnie’s dance.

She said: “You bring a whole new meaning to putting a spring in your step.”

As the crowd gave a collective gasp, Shirley put her hand over her mouth and looked like she wanted the ground to swallow her up right there and then.

Luckily, 24-year-old Jonnie saw the funny side, interrupting: “Excuse the pun.”

And Shirley apologised by saying: “OK, I’ve said something wrong again – but you know what I mean.”
