Susannah Constantine waltzed out of Strictly Come Dancing after being the first celebrity to be eliminated and now she may not be able to return for the final group dance after being struck down with a painful injury.
The 57-year-old has revealed that she has torn her intercostal muscle, which runs between the ribs, and could thwart her chances of returning to the dance floor.
The fashion guru, who was paired with professional dancer Anton Du Beke, revealed to Closer magazine: “I have torn an intercostal muscle and it’s incredibly painful because it’s the muscle that holds the ribs together.
“Lots of people get it when they do Strictly. Kate Silverton has got the same injury and Stacey Dooley did it as well. It is quite common. You just have to wait for it to heal and I am still in recovery.”
ED! has contacted representatives for Susannah for comment.
She continued: “I’ve said to Anton, ‘You either have to carry me or I’m not going to move and I’m just going to stand there.’ I can be like a maypole and everyone can dance around me.”
It’s set to be a tense final with three of this year’s most controversial contestants returning for the group dance.
Seann Walsh, Danny John-Jules and Vick Hope will be returning with one insider saying: “It’s going to be awkward.”
The source told The Mirror: “It’s been a great series, but it’s fair to say there have been a number of issues off-screen – not least with these three. To say it’s going to be quite tense is an understatement”
While Susannah may have bowed out of the series early on, Susannah revealed last month that she was still in the WhatsApp group for the series and was shocked at some of the raunchy messages.
She told the Daily Star: “I’d always imagined the pros would be quite dull because they always seem so composed and serious, but they are wild.
“They party like fiends and they’re hilarious. We now have a WhatsApp group together and it’s pure filth.”
