Strictly’s Gemma Atkinson breaks silence after fresh Gorka rumours

It's the story that just won't go away!

| Updated:

Gemma Atkinson and Gorka Marquez have already quashed rumours of a Strictly Come Dancing romance.

But that hasn’t stopped the speculation swirling in recent days, after pro dancer Gorka publicly wished Gemma a happy birthday (oh, the horror!) and Gemma shared a shirtless snap of Gorka to Instagram.

The soap star’s post came on Saturday night, and showed her jokingly crouched between Gorka and fellow pro Giovanni Pernice as they lifted their shirts to show off their abs.

She quipped: “Forget about the Abs… it’s all about that hot chick in the background.”

A funny picture between friends. Yes, FRIENDS!

In a new interview with The Sunday Mail, Gemma said (again): “Gorka and I are just friends. He is a great dancer and a lovely person. We train miles apart and hardly ever see each other.”

The star added that she’s in no rush to find love, either.

“I turned 33 last week and I suppose I should be finding someone to settle down with,” she said.

“But I’m quite happy on my own and I’ve got my dogs, Ollie – a cocker spaniel – and Norman – a sproodle. Who knows what will happen in the future?”

She also used the chat to big up dance partner Aljaz Skorjanec.

“Aljaz is the kindest person I have ever met,” she said. “He is a fantastic and patient teacher and is constantly trying to build up my confidence.”

Unfortunately for Gemma and Aljaz, they didn’t have their best night on Strictly.

They received 25 points out a possible 30 for their Samba.

Meanwhile, Gorka recently spoke out on those persistent Gemma rumours as well.

He told Daily Star: “We hang out together and do some workouts and I think she is beautiful, but we are just friends.”

If it ever becomes more than that, then their relationship would mark the first time in Strictly history that romance has blossomed between a contestant and somebody who isn’t their dance partner.

Strictly continues tonight on BBC1.
