Strictly Come Dancing star sets his sights on Benidorm role

Because who doesn't want to work in the sunshine?

Strictly Come Dancing star Joe McFadden is hoping to wangle himself a role on Benidorm when it returns to our screens later this year.

The former Holby City actor has admitted his brain has been whirring with different ideas for storylines and characters, and is hoping some of his friends could help him land a starring role at the fictional Solana hotel.

And he wants to take Strictly dance partner Katya Jones with him.

Speaking to the Sunday Mirror newspaper Joe said: “A role on Benidorm would be fab. There are some nice dramas in the running which I can’t really talk about, but some comedy would be lovely.

“Me and Katya could go and be the entertainers at the Solana Hotel.”

Joe might genuinely be in with a chance of landing his dream role in the sun, as he’s mates with Tony Maudsley, who plays hairdresser Kenneth in the hit ITV show, and he’s hoping he’ll put a word in the casting bosses.

If he did join the show he’d be joining a long list of stars who are confirmed to be appearing in the 10th series.

Legendary comedy double act Hale and Pace will play undercover detectives investigating Les, actor Tim Healy, who will return to the show full time after recovering from ill health.

EastEnders star Shane Richie will be back as Sammy Valentino, after the sleazeball character he’s played for the past two series proved a hit with viewers.

Also believed to be returning are the Chuckle Brothers and Spandau Ballet’s Tony Hadley, while former Brookside actress Claire Sweeney will play a new travel rep.

Other guest stars to look out for include Frankie Goes to Hollywood’s Holly Johnson, T’Pau star Carol Decker, comedian Bobby Ball, Bad Education’s Leyton Williams and former Corrie star Nigel Havers.

John Challis, who fans loved as property dealer Monty Staines, will become a permanent fixture in the new series too.
