Saturday Kitchen’s revolving cast of presenters each bring their own charm to the table.
Regular host Matt Tebbutt is the ringleader of chaos, with each one of his shows liable to produce a gut-busting moment at any minute.
And Donal Skehan has legions of followers, with his lilting accent and easy manner a great accompaniment to some Saturday morning cookery.
But the 31-year-old would have been totally unaware that an innocent comment he’d made would be picked up and turned into something rather rude by the BBC’s subtitling software.
With guest Stephen Mangan looking on, Donal was about to begin preparing a dish.
As a clip of Rick Stein’s foodie adventures in Portugal came to a close, Donal said: “That’s inspired me to make a pork dish too.”

Unfortunately, the BBC subtitler got the wrong end of the stick entirely, and finished the sentence with a rather rude word – which we won’t spell out, but rhymes with ‘witch’!
Of course, neither Donal nor Stephen would have been aware of the gaffe, as the chef continued talking about the dish.
He continued: “This is saltimbocca a la Romana. It’s a beautiful classic Italian recipe.
“I learned it from the Nonnas just outside Rome, so I’m going to hopefully do them justice.”
Hilariously, shortly afterwards the subtitle also misheard the word ‘fillet’ and replaced it with ‘Phillip’.
At least one viewer was watching with subtitles and spotted the hilarious gaffe.
They wrote: “You should really watch #SaturdayKitchen with the subtitles on!! At the moment they are cooking pork [bleep] called Phillip.”
Other viewers, however, missed the error and were just happy to see Donal on the show – and rushed to praise him.

It’s not the first time in recent memory this has happened, either – not long ago Nigella Lawson was apparently using ‘ask a pony’ rather than ‘mascarpone’ cheese.
We dread to think what it might come up with next week – all we know for sure is we’ll be watching with the subtitles on!
