Ant Middleton Rages at Contestant’s Military Lies on SAS: Who Dares Wins

Ant took it as well as could be expected...

Ant Middleton, the military hero and presenter of SAS: Who Dares Wins, might be one of the scariest men on the planet.

So there’s no way on earth we’d ever like to do anything to make him – or any of his instructor pals – annoyed with us for any reason.

Unfortunately for contestant James Archer, he did exactly that – in a big way.

In conversations with Mark Billingham earlier in the episode, James denied being part of the army, after a battle with drugs and an assault charge.

However, when doing some background research on James, Ant and Mark found something interesting.

In a CV the contestant had posted online, he’d claimed to have spent three years in the British military, as part of the parachute regiment.

Naturally, this made Ant and Mark curious, so they decided to bring James in for further questioning – at quarter past midnight, when he was fast asleep.

Speaking off-camera, Ant said: “Integrity’s a massive thing in the special forces community. They need to be open with us otherwise there’s going to be no trust there, no loyalty there.

“People who pretend to be in the military when they haven’t earned it. It makes people [bleep]ing angry.”

Ant certainly lived up to that promise after a short interrogation with James, who eventually came clean, saying: “If I’m honest staff, it’s a bit of a… it’s a lie, staff.”

The two hardmen on the other side of the table immediately flew into a rage, with Ant screaming into James’ face: “You [bleep]ing lying little [bleep].”

James could only say that he wasn’t proud of what he did, but it wasn’t enough to win forgiveness from the military heroes.

Viewers were quick to take to Twitter to talk about the terrifying incident, with most wisely saying they’d never tell fibs to the Who Dares Wins team.

One wrote: “One thing not to do; lie about being in the army to ex SAS! @antmiddleton was about to tear him in half!”

Another said: “Remind me never to lie to Ant Middleton! #bigscaryman #SASWhoDaresWins”.

As James sheepishly left the interrogation room, Mark ruefully said: “[Bleep]ing hell… I really liked him as well. Idiot.”

Later in the episode, James decided he didn’t want to take part any more and handed in his number, ending his time on the show.

Probably a wise decision, with a handful of furious ex-special forces heroes on your back!
