Ronan Keating’s daughter fails to make it through on The Voice

Fans loved their performance

Saturday night’s episode of The Voice was a tense one, as the blind auditions came to a close.

And one surprising auditionee who missed out on a place in the next stage was Ronan Keating’s daughter, Missy.

It was revealed on Friday that Ronan’s daughter was auditioning, but we had to wait to watch the show to find out which way things went.

Missy, 18, and her friend Georgia Gaffney told the cameras: “Our families have inspired us so much. I’ve grown up around music, my dad Ronan being in Boyzone.

“He was my age when he started. So I just want to start my career now and get a move on.”

Sadly – with so few places left in the competition – none of the coaches turned around for the pair, known as GGMK.

They sang Forget You by Cee-Lo Green to a huge wave of applause from the audience, but – despite dancing and singing along – Will.i.am, Tom Jones, Jennifer Hudson and Olly Murs were not bowled over.

Olly commented: “It didn’t make me want to press the button.” Jen added: “I liked the song choice and the arrangement.” Tom said: “It was nice. Just sounded very good, didn’t sound great.”

As they left the stage, Missy told her friend: “It’s OK. Don’t cry, look how far we came.”

Ronan – who is also dad to Jack, 20, Ally, 13, and Cooper, 21 months – is yet to comment on his daughter’s audition, but his ex-wife, Missy’s mum Yvonne Connolly shared a screengrab on Instagram.

She wrote: “So they didn’t get through but so proud of my daughter @missyykeating and @georgiagaffney who were brave enough to put themselves out there on @thevoiceuk #lifeisajourney #courage @ggmkmusic.”

Missy also shared the image on InstaStories, while Georgia added on her profile: “Grateful for this experience with my best friend.”

Fans piled in to compliment their performance, with one writing: “Gutted for them but they did themselves proud. I’m sure there are bigger and better things to come.”

Another said: “They have lovely voices. I think a different song may have got them through. But they should be very proud of themselves as they sounded amazing x.”

A third added: “I thought the girls were fab on The Voice they have great voices.” One more reminded them: “The girls were amazing. I wish they had been on earlier, as it’s so hard for the coaches when it comes to the last picks. Well done girls, be very proud.xx.”

The show aired as Missy celebrated her birthday, and she certainly seemed to be enjoying it – despite her disappointment on The Voice.

Missy took to InstaStories to share a video of herself at a Boyzone concert. Dad, Ronan even sang to her from the stage, as she captioned the video: “Just Wembley singing happy bday to me.”
