Richard Madeley makes cheeky remark about Susanna Reid’s GMB appearance after night out

She was up late at star-studded awards

| Updated:

Last night she wowed on the red carpet at The Pride Of Britain Awards and just hours later Susanna Reid looked equally glam as she was back to her day job on Good Morning Britain.

Viewers were amazed at how fresh the presenter looked at 6am after her late night, comparing her to a super hero.

Her co-host Richard Madeley, standing in for Piers Morgan this week, was equally impressed she was on the show after her night out, and made a very cheeky remark about it.

“Welcome to the programme you dirty stop out!” he told her with a grin at the start of the breakfast show, before asking her if she managed to get any shut eye last night.

“I got to bed at midnight and was up at 4am so I had the whole four hours’ sleep!” she said.

Last night she shared pictures of herself on Twitter in a figure-hugging lacy dress posing on the red carpet with her colleagues Kate Garraway, Charlotte Hawkins and Ranvir Singh.

She also rubbed shoulders with showbiz stars, royals and politicians at the glitzy night, sharing snaps of herself with The X Factor judges and filming a video message MP Jeremy Corbyn wanted her to pass on to Piers Morgan.

This morning she showed no signs of her late night and looked just as pristine as the night before wearing an eye-catching blue dress, which led one viewer to compare her to Super Woman.

Another said she was like Wonder Woman for getting up after four hours to host the show.

But Susanna was quick to point out that the real heroes were those honoured at The Pride Of Britain Awards last night, like George Mathias, an 11-year-old who has run 99 miles (and counting) to raise money for Alder Hay Children’s Hospital after they saved his brother’s life.

She said: “It was a really emotional and inspiring evening. We were lucky to be in the company of Prince William and all the heroes like the Grenfell firefighters.”

She then added, “here I am talking about the heroism and we’re all looking at the dresses!” as the show showed images of her night out as she talked about meeting George.

Richard later admitted he was disappointed to miss out on the event, as he turned down his invitation.

He said: “I would have gone if I knew you all were. I said no when I got my invitation as I knew I would be up early the next morning.”

Susanna replied that the GMB team have had to get used to “going out on a school night”.
