Good Morning Britain presenter Richard Arnold baffled as Kate Middleton lookalike appears on The Chase

What's the Duchess doing on a quiz show?

Richard Arnold, one of the hosts of ITV’s Good Morning Britain, was baffled last night after spotting Kate Middleton on The Chase.

The TV host, 49, shared a snap on Instagram of the moment a question about him popped up on the hit ITV quiz show – and wondered why the Duchess of Cambridge was among the contestants.

Richard, who is currently in Japan for the Rugby World Cup, shared two snaps – one showing his feet in socks and sandles and another of a hopeful on The Chase who bares an uncanny resemblance to Kate.

He wrote in the caption: “Socks and sandals: the universal sign that man has given up hope. Not so today in Tokyo as I undergo an extraordinary transformation, to be revealed next week @gmb

“Meanwhile, back home the Duchess of Cambridge was apparently on The Chase last night and my old moniker popped up #blastfromthepast #weekend #weekendvibes #sunday #tokyo #japan.”

Some of his followers agreed with his observation, with one writing, “I said exactly the same about Kate being on The Chase” and another commenting, “She does rather”.

Others were more taken aback by the socks-sandals combo, as one demanded, “What are you doing?” while another said, “That’s a strong look!”

On GMB, Richard might not be as controversial as his colleague Piers Morgan, but he nevertheless managed to annoy a number of viewers recently with his cheeky gags.

Disgusted breakfast TV viewers threatened to switch the programme off following a slew of innuendoes from the presenter.

The showbiz correspondent was up and at it early during the episode in August, leaving his co-presenters in stitches as he delivered his usual arch repartee with a smirk and a wink.

Not everybody at home agreed Richard’s playful way with words was amusing – with some suggesting on social media that his “disgusting” banter did not go well with their cornflakes.

One viewer even claimed Richard’s silly comment about ‘slipping in’ the occasional saucy remark was inappropriate because children may be watching.
