Mark Owen’s joy as dog Arnold recovers with Supervet’s help

Star's doberman has operation to fix limp

Take That’s Mark Owen is overjoyed his pet dog Arnold is “bark for good” after the adorable pooch undergoes surgery on tonight’s Supervet.

The pop star had an emotional reunion with his doberman who recognised him immediately after five days recuperating from an operation at Noel Fitzpatrick’s practice to fix a serious limp.

And man’s best friend was excited to see Mark again, jumping up at his owner and wagging his tail despite having to wear a head cone to stop him licking his surgical scar and causing an infection.

The singer said: “It’s so nice to get him back. And he recognised us, which is a good thing.

“I feel like I’ve not seen him in ages. It’s been five days.

“I’ve got a funny feeling he’s a little bit angry,” Mark added before putting on a gruff dog voice and mimicking Arnold: ‘How could you?!'”

“I’m looking forward to getting him home. The kids are desperate to see him,” he said.

“We went out and got him new dog beds and new treats to entertain him because Arnold, when he gets a bit frustrated, usually decides that he wants to eat the house.

“But he’s really going to have to rest and he’s probably going to do a lot of howling.”

But further stem-cell surgery, scheduled for a fortnight later to prevent “inevitable” arthritis, had to be postponed because the knee joint was too inflamed.

Noel told Mark that eight-million stem cells had to be “flushed down the toilet” and re-harvested from Arnold because they only had a limited lifespan.

And despite a second setback when Mark let the pooch off the lead without noticing a pair of deer in the field which the dog decided to chase, causing further damage, Arnold, named after The Terminator star Arnold Schwarzenegger, was soon running free and out of pain again.
