Phillip Schofield battling through nasty-sounding infection to host This Morning’s Christmas reveal

The presenter has a 'touch of laryngitis'

Phillip Schofield issued a health update as he hosted This Morning with a “croaky voice” today (November 29).

The 59-year-old presenter returned to the ITV programme alongside co-host Holly Willoughby on Monday.

However, Phillip didn’t sound like his usual self.

Phillip addressed his health ahead of unveiling the show’s incredible Christmas display.

In the show’s first moments, Holly joked: “Don’t panic, we haven’t changed his voice to protect his identity.”

Phillip responded: “I’m fine.”

I have a touch of laryngitis

Holly added: “What’s going on with you?”

He explained: “I have been fully tested. I feel amazingly good, but I have a touch of laryngitis.”

His co-star commented: “So you’re just gonna sound kind of sexy actually? Sounds quite good doesn’t it!”

Phillip continued: “I just sound a little croaky today. Anyway I feel fine, I’m just a bit croaky.”

However, it didn’t stop the star from hosting today’s show.

Phillip and Holly later went on to unveil the programme’s Christmas display.

The studio was filled with festive decorations, trees and plenty of holly.

In addition, there was also a life-size moving polar bear.

But some viewers were seemingly distracted by Phillip’s voice.

How did This Morning viewers respond?

On Twitter, one shared: “Well I love Phillip’s new husky voice, at least we can now tell the difference between Holly & Phil when they talk. Love you both x.”

Another added: “I just tuned in and heard @Schofe talk in a sexy voice. Hope he is well but I love his voice. James Bond watch out!”

A third wrote: “Mr Schofield sounds like he has a touch of flu!!!”

However, others gushed over the show’s Christmas display.

One viewer tweeted: “Looks absolutely beautiful, makes us as viewers really happy & we need that right now. Thank you for doing this every year, I really look forward to it! You both look great too, stay safe xx.”

A second posted: “The set looks SO good!”
