Peter Andre wades into Aston and Janette exit row

Singer posts disapproving video clip

| Updated:

Peter Andre appeard on Loose Women today, and on his way to the ITV studio he posted a video to Twitter, encouraging fans to watch the programme.

But that wasn’t all he wanted to get off his chest – while he had their attention, the Mysterious Girl singer took the opportunity to have his say on last night’s Strictly result.

Fans have gone into meltdown after favourite Aston Merrygold and his professional partner Janette Manrara were voted off the series in one of the dancing show’s biggest ever shocks.

And clearly, Peter wasn’t happy with how things turned out, either…

In the clip – titled “Don’t normally get involved but…” – the singer gave his short, sharp verdict on the surprise decision.

Looking straight into the camera, he said: “I watched Strictly last night, and Aston and Janette being voted off does not sit right with me.

“Aston is an incredible dancer, and Janette’s an incredible choreographer.”

Of course, Peter knows Janette’s qualities only too well, as he partnered with the American dancer for the 2015 series of Strictly.

The pair finished in seventh place behind the eventual winners, The Wanted singer Jay McGuiness and his partner Aliona Vilani.

Judging by the comments that followed Peter’s video, his fans clearly agree with his statement.

One wrote: “Yep! You’re right. They had a plan. Get rid of the best competition!”

Another said: “Gutted, to say the least. I love Strictly – can’t wait for it to start every year. But makes you wonder.”

And a third fan remarked: “Totally agree – should never have been in the dance-off in the first place.”

After dancing the Viennese Waltz on Saturday, Aston and Janette ended up in a tense decider against Saturdays singer Mollie King and her partner AJ Pritchard.

And with the judges unable to come to a unanimous decision, it fell to Shirley Ballas to make the final call – sending Aston and Janette home.

Peter Andre isn’t the only celebrity to express their disappointment at the outcome – Alesha Dixon has, too.

The former Strictly judge tweeted: “Craig giving Aston a 4 basically put the nail in the coffin! Ridiculous.

“Can’t believe one of the best dancers has left so soon!!! #Strictly.”
