She rushed her son to hospital

Penny Lancaster has revealed the moment she thought her son had died after she found him unconscious at the bottom of the stairs.

During Tuesday’s Loose Women, Penny said she heard a “huge thud down the stairs” and she found her seven-year-old “face down” in the stairwell.

The star said her son Aiden was just making “gurgling noises” and he “couldn’t speak”.

She told her fellow panellists: “It was the most frightening experience I’ve ever had in my life.

“I heard this huge thud down the stairs. I rushed through the door and saw my seven-year-old face down, unconscious.

“My first thought was he’s dead, he’s not moving. I screamed out and called 999.”

She continued: “I was shaking but trying to be calm telling him it’s ‘OK darling’. He was just making these gurgling noises, he couldn’t speak.

“I went through all the worst scenarios; he’s broken his neck, he’s going to be paralysed.”

Penny explained that her husband Rod Stewart was in America when Aiden had the accident.

The 47-year-old said Aiden was put in a back brace and taped up before being rushed to hospital.

Thankfully, X-Ray scans showed that he didn’t receive any injuries.

She added: “There’s nothing I could have done to have prevented that happening.

“He is fine now, he recovered. It was a scary moment, but you have to let children be children.”

Penny and Rod are also parents to their 13-year-old son, Alastair.

Penny often opens up about scary moments she’s experienced on the daytime show.

In November last year, the star revealed she was threatened with a needle by a drug addict as she filmed a new TV show.

Penny said she joined the police as a volunteer officer as part of a Channel 4 reality show called Famous and Fighting Crime – which will see a string of famous faces go on the front line to deal with real life calls to 999.

Speaking about the moment she was threatened, Penny admitted she was left “terrified” as she only had a stab vest to protect herself.
