Pasha Kovalev finds RUDE word on Countdown

Strictly dancer made his girlfriend Rachel Riley giggle

Rachel Riley was left in stitches as her boyfriend Pasha Kovalev came up with the word “bumhole” on Countdown.

The Strictly Come Dancing pro-dancer had everyone in the studio in hysterics when he revealed the seven-letter effort in Dictionary Corner.

Rachel later revealed on Twitter that she was laughing too much while spelling it out, and the scene ended up on the cutting room floor.

Posting a video of the moment, she wrote: “Can’t take @PashaKovalev anywhere 😂😂😂 This was supposed to be the clean version of the show!”

She added: “When your boyfriend spots an opening to play a cheeky seven. I may have been laughing too much for the board shot to make the edit.”

Her beau had seemed sheepish in volunteering the word to Countdown presenter Nick Hewer, but it beat the contestants who could manage only six letters.

Pasha, who was looking for an anagram from the letters HMWOIUEBL, said: “There is a word there. It consists of seven letters… erm… and it’s, erm, ‘bumhole’.”

Nick replied: “‘Bumhole’ is in the dictionary, I’m sure.”

Resident wordsmith Susie Dent said: “Yes, but the only thing I would say, having looked it up in the big Oxford English Dictionary, is it has been in the dictionary since 1611.”

The host then had the audience giggling even more when he piped back: “Well, they’ve been around for a long time!”

When Pasha was last on the show, he left his partner red-faced by coming up with “phallus”.

Just last month, Rachel was left blushing when she had to spell out the word “panties”.

And it’s not the first time “bumhole” has appeared on the long-running series, having been offered by a contestant in 2016.
