OPINION: Zara McDermott should have left Strictly – poor Eddie was robbed!

Wrong, wrong, wrong!

The latest Strictly Come Dancing elimination has sparked some uproar as Eddie Kadi and Karen Hauer left the competition. Sob.

Eddie and Karen weren’t saved by the judges during last night’s results show, meaning they were sent packing. They faced the dreaded dance-off against Zara McDermott and Graziano Di Prima.

In my opinion, it was totally the wrong choice. Eddie performed much better than Zara on Saturday night and had so much potential. He was robbed.

Strictly elimination: Eddie was robbed

Last night’s results show saw all four judges – Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse and Anton Du Beke – save Zara and Graziano.

While I like Zara, her time on the show should have definitely been up this weekend. She was in the dance-off last week and managed to escape it. And this weekend she faced it again – that says a lot on its own.

Eddie has showed much more potential on the show and even bagged himself a 10 earlier this month.

I think the poorly chosen song – a version of Calm Down by Rema ft. Selena Gomez – he and Karen danced to on Saturday night played a part in the decision as it didn’t match the routine.

Plus, he was given the so-called toughest dance to perform – a samba. So everything seemed to be against the poor guy!

Zara on Strictly

I think while Zara has improved since her debut last month, the routine didn’t give much. She was holding onto Graziano a lot and still seems a bit wooden. I don’t get excited to watch her routines. Eddie, though, I look forward to seeing what he’s got!

At the weekend, she received a score of 28 out of 40.

Actually think Eddie did way better in the dance-off than Zara!

Eddie, however, came in at the bottom of the leaderboard thanks to his score of 24. I personally think it was bad song choice which messed things up. His routine didn’t seem to flow like it has done in past weeks and of course the judges noticed that.

Despite the scores, I believe Eddie should have been given another chance to shake them hips and show us what he’s got. Just his smile alone is enough to keep him in the competition for me.

Viewers seem to agree with me. One person said on X: “Wrong decision…Zara barely danced. Just lifts.”

Another wrote: “Actually think Eddie did way better in the dance-off than Zara!”

Others do disagree though and believe it was the right decision. One told Zara on Instagram: “You did fab! It’s so obvious how hard you’re working and I’m so glad you’re going through to Halloween week!”
