Love Island could face Ofcom investigation after complaints about ‘bullying’

Viewers aren't happy!

As we reported earlier this afternoon, some Love Island fans are up in arms about the alleged ‘bullying’ in the villa this year.

They’ve been quite outspoken on social media about the treatment Danny Williams has been getting from fellow contestants Amber Gill and Anna Vakili.

Well, the discontent has escalated somewhat since then – it’s been revealed that TV watchdog Ofcom has received no fewer than 192 complaints about the series.

Amber and Anna weren’t happy when Danny dropped Yewande Biala in favour of newcomer Arabella Chi – a move that meant Yewande was booted off the show.

And after Danny and Arabella kissed in front of everyone, Amber slammed Danny’s actions, saying: “You wouldn’t jump in her grave that quick, would you.”

Anna chipped in: “Her bed’s not even cold yet.”

Their treatment of Danny hasn’t gone down well with viewers, though, many of whom have taken to social media to make their feelings known.

One tweeted: “Nah, all these girls can get right in the bin. Acting like it’s year 9 science. Embarrassing.”

Another wrote: “Amber and Anna are being rude, bullying and fishing for an argument.”

And a third said: “I am disgusted by the behaviour on Love Island tonight.”

Now, with nearly 200 people making official complaints, Ofcom may be forced to step in.

A spokesman told the Standard Online: “We will assess these complaints against our broadcasting rules, but are yet to decide whether or not to investigate.”

The ITV show has come under intense scrutiny following the suicide deaths of two former contestants.

Former beauty queen Sophie Gradon, who appeared in the second series of Love Island, was found dead in June 2018 at the age of 32.

And footballer Mike Thalassitis, a contestant in series three, died in March of this year. He was just 26.
