Nervous Gemma Collins takes out £5m insurance for Dancing On Ice

Remember her tumble at the Teen Choice Awards?

Gemma Collins has taken out multi-million pound insurance for Dancing On Ice.

The TOWIE star has already said she’s determined to impress alongside pro ice skating partner Matt Evers, and it seems she’s not taking any chances.

Gemma, 37, said she’s insured for £5m to cover her for potential injuries in this year’s competition.

Speaking to the Daily Star, Gemma explained: “I’m insured for a lot of money – £5 million. So if I do go down I’ve had a result.

“I’m not planning to go down, though. I have fallen in rehearsals. I busted my knees twice. But I just get up and carry on.”

It follows a serious tumble she took at the 2017 Teen Choice Awards, when she plummeted through a trapdoor.

Gemma has confirmed that she’ll be lifting partner Matt in their first performance of Dancing on Ice.

Matt, who has appeared in all series of the show, wrote on Instagram: “Words cannot explain how proud I am of this human being, I hope tomorrow evening you will see how people and perceptions can change.”

He added: “@gemmacollins1 has worked so hard over the past 3 months and in my eyes has changed.”

The build up to this year’s series, which kicks off tonight, hasn’t been without its stresses for Gemma.

The TV star spoke of her nerves on her Instagram stories last week, revealing to fans that she can’t stop throwing up.

On top of that, she was reportedly bombarded with requests for tickets – to the point that her boyfriend and fellow TOWIE star James ‘Arg’ Argent called on everyone to leave her alone.

He said on Instagram: “Gemma only has 6 tickets for DOI each week! Including me, family, friends, management, etc.

“Please understand and don’t take it personal if she can’t get you one. She’s had to come off Whatsapp because of people driving her mad. She needs to concentrate fully on her routine and no added pressure.”

It seems Gemma could end up wowing audiences, as former ice skating world champions Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean believe she will go far in the competition.

The two were impressed by a “graceful” Gemma they saw during training.

Just hours before their first performance, Gemma took to Instagram to remind fans to vote and said she’s “petrified” and “never been this nervous!”
