I’m A Celeb’s Myles Stephenson reveals his nan has died after ‘holding on for him’

He almost didn't do the show

Rak-Su singer Myles Stephenson has posted an emotional message to say his beloved grandmother has died just days after saying she was ‘holding on for him’ to return from the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! jungle.

The former X Factor star, 28, said nan, 89, passed away today (Saturday December 14) with a tribute picture on his Instagram page.

89 years of life! Today you left this world but your spirit will NEVER leave our ❤️‘s! The life you had on earth was nothing short of phenomenal! 6 children, 10 grand children! Started In Jamaica and gave everyone the tools to conquer the world! The music I make will keep you dancing up there and My restaurant will be named after YOU down here. Ima continue to try make you proud day in day out in everything I do! Thank you for holding out on going to heaven till I got back from the Jungle! I knew you wouldn’t leave without hearing my voice one last time! I’m not sure how I will deal with you being gone but I know you wouldn’t want me to be alone and to spend it enjoying life! I love you to heaven and back! ❤️ Rest In Love Yaya👼🏾

He wrote: “89 years of life! Today you left this world but your spirit will NEVER leave our [hearts]!

“The life you had on earth was nothing short of phenomenal! Six children, 10 grandchildren!

“Started In Jamaica and gave everyone the tools to conquer the world!

“The music I make will keep you dancing up there and my restaurant will be named after YOU down here.”

He added that he’d “continue to try make you proud day in day out in everything I do!

“Thank you for holding out on going to heaven till I got back from the Jungle!

“I knew you wouldn’t leave without hearing my voice one last time! I’m not sure how I will deal with you being gone but I know you wouldn’t want me to be alone and to spend it enjoying life!

“I love you to heaven and back!  Rest In Love Yaya.”

Myles’ I’m A Celebrity… co stars commented on the post, with Adele Roberts saying: “Lots of love, Milo.”

And Cliff Parisi adding: “Very sorry for you loss Myles and thinking of you and your family, lots of love xx.”

Dermot O’Leary, who hosts the X Factor, said: “Big love buddy. A life well lived.”

Just yesterday, Myles told how his elderly grandmother ‘held on’ for him and opened her eyes for the first time in a while at hearing the sound of his voice at her bedside.

In a chat with Metro, Myles said his dad messaged him when he was on his way home from Australia telling him his nan’s condition had worsened.

He told the publication: “So when I landed yesterday at 11am, I went straight to the hospital and saw her.”

Later, Myles was at his mum’s house when doctors called and said he needed to into the hospital if he had any last words he wanted to say to his nan.

He continued: “So I headed straight back to the hospital, I spent all night there until 6am. I had to go home after that. It’s been weird, she hasn’t passed yet but she’s got sepsis.

She heard my voice and she smiled and opened her eyes.

“My nan held in for a month for me to get back and now she’s finally letting go. She saw me and when I got there yesterday, the first time, she heard my voice and she smiled and opened her eyes, and that’s the first time she’s opened her eyes in a while.”

Speaking further, Myles told the publication his nan is a “strong woman” and has “fought cancer four times”.

Myles was the sixth celebrity voted out of the jungle.

He spoke about his nan being unwell in his exit interview, during which he also admitted he would have liked to have got to the final.

Myles told hosts Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly: “I would have obviously liked to go the full way but the rest of the people in there deserve every last bit of it.”
