Love Island’s Cara and Nathan finally reveal newborn baby’s surprising name

Not what you were expecting, right?

Love Island winners Cara de la Hoyde and Nathan Massey have finally revealed the name of their newborn baby son.

While plenty of celebrities prefer somewhat, shall we say, out there, baby names, these two have surprised everyone by going down the ‘normal’ route.

Say hello to Freddie-George!

He was born on December 13, nearly two weeks after Cara’s due date.

Cara and Nathan shared their son’s moniker in a new interview with OK! magazine, saying they decided on the hyphenated name several months ago but chose to keep it to themselves.

They also cleared up rumours of an engagement, sparked after Nathan shared a photo to Instagram of Cara in labour, and fans noted the diamond ring on her finger.

“I have been wearing this ring for months and it has the baby’s initials ‘FG’ on it,” said Cara.

“We knew his name for four or five months. We’re not engaged so I wear his name on my ring finger as he’s my little man.”

Cara and Nathan met on the second series of Love Island back in 2016, and went on to scoop the grand prize of £50,000

However, they split less than a year later, before Cara then confirmed the following month that she was pregnant with Nathan’s child.

But, in lovely news just before Christmas, the reality stars reconciled their differences, confirming last month they were back together and excited about welcoming their baby into the world.

They confirmed their reunion with a cute loved-up selfie posted to Instagram, which Cara captioned: “The rumours are true. Hands off he’s mine.”

Nathan shared the same snap to his own account, telling fans: “To squash all the rumours me and Cara are back together and stronger than ever!!! Right before Xmas.”

Aww!

Cara and Nathan had already revealed the sex of their baby earlier this year, saying they were thrilled as they’d always wanted a little boy.

Speaking to OK! magazine, Cara said: “I’m not very girlie so I’d rather have a little boy who’ll get all muddy than a little princess. I’m a bit more rough and ready. Now we know the sex, it’s so much more real.”

They are the second Love Island couple to have a baby: Luis Morrison and Cally-Jane Beech welcomed daughter Vienna in May.

In a funny twist, just hours before giving birth, Cara had shared her excitement at watching Ferne McCann’s new ITVBe documentary about pregnancy.

And in a recent interview with Closer magazine, she said she’d love to follow in the footsteps of stars like Ferne, Sam Faiers and Binky Felstead who have documented motherhood on camera.

“Sam and Binky’s shows are wonderful but Nathan and I wouldn’t be going to Beverly Hills or dining in Harrods, it’s all a bit fancy!” she said.

“I think a lot of couples would be able to relate to us as we’re so normal.

“I’ve always wanted to be a mum, so it feels like a dream come true.”

Congrats!
