Lorraine Kelly accused of 'throwing shade' at Esther McVey

They worked on GMTV together back in the '90s

Lorraine Kelly has been accused of throwing shade at Esther McVey on Good Morning Britain today.

The star and politician Esther worked on breakfast show GMTV in the '90s, and presenters Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid were quick to ask Lorraine about her former colleague.

Esther had appeared on GMB for a debate shortly before Piers and Susanna linked to Lorraine to find out what was coming up on her show.

Susanna asked Lorraine: "Do you remember Esther McVey from her GMTV days?"

Lorraine replied: "Yep. Yes, I do."

The Scottish presenter then quickly moved on to tell viewers what was coming up on her show, before Piers asked: "So you got on with Esther then, Lorraine?"

Lorraine said: "I don't remember, love, I don't remember at all. It was an awful long time ago."

Piers quipped: "If looks could kill she'd be six feet under."

He then told Susanna: "I'd love to hear the back story behind that."

Wow, Lorraine threw some major shade at Esther McVey just then.

Viewers were quick to share their thoughts on Lorraine's comments, with some people accusing her of "throwing shade" at Esther.

One person wrote on Twitter: "#lorraine #gmb just gave #EsterMcVey all kinds of shade lol."

A third tweeted: "Lorraine Kelly clearly not a big fan of Esther McVey," alongside a video from the awkward moment.

Esther, 51, was on GMB to debate about Brexit.

Last month, Esther announced her intention to run for leadership of the Conversation Party when Theresa May resigns.

Before her career in politics, Esther worked on GMTV in the '90s.

Meanwhile, Lorraine co-hosted GMTV from 1993 to 2010.
