Loose Women viewers in tears as heartbroken Johnny Vegas opens up about dad’s death

He died in March this year

Lovable comedian Johnny Vegas appeared as a guest on Loose Women today to discuss his heartbreak over his beloved dad’s death.

Johnny, 47, came on the show with a cake to support Macmillan’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning event, which the Loose Women were involved with too.

But when panelist Andrea McLean asked him to explain his link to the cancer charity he recalled his dad’s battle with bladder cancer.

He sadly died earlier this year and Johnny revealed he is “angry” with his dad for leaving him.

He said: “Unfortunately my dad took ill this year. He’d been in remission with bladder cancer, but unfortunately it had spread. And it spread quite rapidly.

“He was too frail to take treatment. So very quickly that impact, we were told it would be quite soon. We all went into tailspin of what to do.”

Eventually his dad was admitted to a hospice for the care he needed, and because he deteriorated so quickly Johnny said he still hasn’t grieved properly for his death.

He admitted: “I haven’t had the cry.

“If I’m really honest I think I’m angry with him. For going as quickly as he did.

“I don’t accept his death, and I feel guilty for not thinking about him on a daily basis – but it’s only because I don’t want to accept he’s gone.”

Johnny praised the charity Macmillan for how much they supported and helped his family.

The Benidorm actor said his dad’s was the first death in his family for decades.

He revealed: “We had a very lucky period of about twenty years without losing anyone and I think you get into a frame of mind of ‘they’re gonna be around forever’.

“And then when it happens, there’s a gap that you can’t fill.”

Viewers were in tears at hearing Johnny’s heartbreaking revelations.

One viewer tweeted: “Crying my eyes out at @loosewomen @JohnnyVegasReal is being so brave and dignified.”

Another said: “I never thought @JohnnyVegasReal would make me cry.”
