Katie Piper hospitalised after ‘ignoring symptoms of infection’

She heaped praise on the NHS staff looking after her

Katie Piper has been hospitalised with an infection and urged fans to “always listen” to their bodies.

The model and TV presenter, 35, shared a snap of herself in hospital and told her followers she “ignored some symptoms” of an infection as she had been “too busy”.

Posting the selfie on Instagram, Katie said: “Ignored some symptoms because of being too busy and now I am in hospital with a bad infection!

“Moral of the story, always listen to your body. I am being looked after by some fantastic NHS nurses and doctors as always.”

A number of famous faces took to the comments to wish Katie a speedy recovery.

Strictly Come Dancing‘s Gorka Márquez, her pro partner in last year’s series, said: “Partner!!! Sending you love!”, while Bake Off winner Nadiya Hussain told her: “Hope you feel better soon.”

Former boxing champ Frank Bruno commented: “Wishing you well.”

Other celebs to comment on the post included The Saturdays singer Rochelle Humes, who said: “Wishing you better,” and fashion expert Gok Wan, who wrote: “Sending you lots of love.”

“Darling.. take care,” said Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda Holden, while Good Morning Britain’s Susanna Reid told her: “Lots of love, Katie.”

Katie’s fans also rushed to flood the star with well-wishes.

One said: “Sending lots of love get well soon you are a absolutely amazing young lady x.”

Another commented: “You are an inspiration to us all, beautiful… take time for yourself, please take care of yourself.”

Last month, Katie revealed she was in hospital with a nasty cut to her arm.

The mum-of-two told her Instagram followers, via updates posted to her Stories, that she was receiving treatment in A&E on Mother’s Day after an accident with a glass.

Katie said: “The downside of being blind in one eye is no peripheral vision, which means you don’t notice the drinking glass by the side of you.

“Have to say the NHS staff were so kind and helpful. We are so lucky to access to free medical care when we need it.”

The TV personality received stitches for the wound but suggested it would not cause her serious problems in the future, telling her followers: “An X-ray and five stitches later and I’m going home.”

She also joked she was “thrilled” the injury was on her left hand and not her right, which meant she could still use her phone.
