Strictly Come Dancing: BBC newsreader Kate Silverton apologises for accidentally revealing elimination result

She worried she had ruined the 'wonderful Strictly magic'

Newsreader Kate Silverton has apologised to fans of Strictly Come Dancing after unknowingly revealing the latest elimination result.

The BBC star shared the leaked result with her 56.2k followers on Twitter, but when one fan pointed out what she had done, the journalist said sorry for ruining the “wonderful Strictly magic”.

Kate quickly deleted the post and wrote: “Oh my goodness. I have spent the day with my family offline and just catching up with this. As someone who clearly knows all too well the fundamental issue around #strictlyspoilers I hand on heart can say this was an entirely unintentional ‘retweet’.”

In another tweet, she explained: “I was watching with my mum on catch-up, last midnight, so with tired eyes… I certainly don’t retweet anything like this as my followers will know, but for anyone who has had their wonderful @bbcstrictly magic ruined I must apologise and again, please accept as entirely unintentional.”

Kate was on the hit dancing competition last year, when she was partnered with Slovenian pro Aljaž Skorjanec.

The pair got to week nine but were eliminated after losing in a dance-off against former England cricketer Graeme Swann and pro dancer Oti Mabuse.

Over the weekend, Strictly saw its most controversial elimination to date.

Viewers were seemingly surprised by the two acts in the dance-off on Sunday (13.10.19) – Viscountess Emma Weymouth and Aljaž Skorjanec, and DJ Dev Griffin and Dianne Buswell.

The four performed their routines for the judges again, with Emma and Aljaž jiving to Kim Wilde’s Kids In America, and Dev and Dianne doing their cha cha to Sam Smith’s Dancing With A Stranger.

Emma was awarded 28 points, but Dev was knocked out with 27. Fans of the show weren’t happy with the decision and shared their thoughts on Twitter.

Former pro James Jordan was among those to slam the result.

The Dancing On Ice 2019 winner took aim at judges Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, Shirley Ballas and Bruno Tonioli, branding them “liars” for saying they were “shocked” that Dev was in the bottom two.
