Jeremy was clearly shocked by Graham’s response when he told the family members to try and forget the past and move forward.

Graham bluntly told him: “No, it’s not.” leaving Jeremy looking surprised and exclaiming: “Brilliant!”

The rehab advisor said: “What you are doing is just ignoring the issues of the past and you’re trying to develop a relationship without having an open and honest conversation about the past.

“It’s important to talk about his childhood and it’s important to understand from his perspective how he saw his childhood.

“This was his experience, it wasn’t anybody else’s experience and he needs an opportunity to say to whatever he feels.

“Then you have an opportunity to share with him how you feel about the past. To clear the past up.”

Looking for a chance to redeem himself the 53-year-old presenter added: “Would it not be fair to say that’s what I meant?”

Graham once again bluntly replied: “No.”
