Jeremy Kyle viewers in tears at former champion swimmer ravaged by alcoholism

She now turns tricks to feed her habit

Jeremy Kyle fans were left in tears today after a former successful swimmer revealed that alcoholism has caused her to drink litres of vodka every day and sell her body for money.

Jeremy Kyle guest Charlotte, who was once a champion swimmer, shocked everyone as she told her heartbreaking story on the ITV show.

The 33-year-old confessed to Jeremy, 53, that she felt “shame” over her addiction.

Speaking about how she also charges £130-an-hour for sex to pay for her drinking habit, she added: “I started escorting to pay my bills, treat myself, and to fund my addiction. It was like £130 an hour.”

She also admitted that she drink-drives. Her distraught mum Cathy had brought her on the show in the hope of getting her help.

Viewers soon took to Twitter to voice their upset over her sad downfall, with some revealing they were in tears.

One wrote: “Hardly ever watch Jeremy Kyle but I am crying like a baby at the episode that’s just been on😭”.

A second tweeted: “Fair play to @itvjeremykyle today. Hopefully will get this lady Charlotte some help with her alcohol addiction #JeremyKyle #MentalHealthAwareness #MondayMorning #DaytimeTV”.

A third added: “The ‘Champion Swimmer’ turned alcoholic is a prime example of why I hate alcohol. Drinking on an occasion is fine, drinking everyday will catch up with you! Alcoholism is so swept under the rug in my opinion & drink driving is never okay #JeremyKyle”.

Viewers were saddened even more to discover that Charlotte didn’t complete the treatment offered to her after her appearance.

The Jeremy Kyle show tweeted: “Unfortunately Charlotte did not complete her treatment – she and her family maintain she has been sober for 4 weeks.

“We hope that she continues in her sobriety. Special thanks to Sarah for sharing her story with us. #JeremyKyle.”
