Jennie McAlpine’s husband has a very strange request for I’m a Celeb bosses

That's true love...

Jennie McAlpine’s husband has opened up about watching his wife compete on I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! asking show bosses to send her to the Bushtucker Trials.

Chris has been watching his wife compete on screen, but recently headed out to Australia’s Gold Coast with the couple’s three-year-old son, Albert.

In an appearance on I’m a Celeb: Extra Camp, he confessed to host Scarlett Moffatt that he was disappointed the show hadn’t put his wife forward for some of the more gruesome challenges.

“She would be good at a trial,” he said. “The underwater one Iain did would panic her without the air. Give her the bugs! Chuck them on her!”

Before he arrived in Australia Chris admitted to The Mirror that he votes for Jennie to take part in every gross trial the show has.

“We would love to see Jennie do more trials and it’s something that she wanted to do,” he said. “She wanted the full Jungle experience, she wanted to do trials, to get to know everyone and see all the camp and everything.

“I’ve been voting on the app every day, even for the ones I know she wouldn’t really want to do. I think she’ll be ok with it, I think she’ll react well. I told her I was going to vote for her so I’m voting every time – for her to stay in and do trials.”

He claimed that when she does get to do a trial, people will see “another side to Jennie”.

He also said that he was hopeful Jennie would get to stay on the show for a long time, but that if she doesn’t, he’ll be happy to get her back sooner.

“If she comes out early which hopefully she doesn’t, we get a holiday together,” he said. “But if not she hopefully wins the show. She absolutely has what it takes to be Queen of the Jungle.”

Chris also used his appearance on Extra Camp to explain a talisman Jennie brought with her to the jungle – one of Albert’s stuffed toys.

The stuffed monkey has been with Jennie ever since the show started – meaning Albert has had to live without it.

“Every night I’ve had to say [the monkey’s] sleeping in the car,” he said. “But now he can see.”
