Jack Maynard issues plea to I’m A Celeb bosses

Surely it couldn't happen – could it?

Just when you thought you’d seen the last of Jack Maynard, he goes and pops up on daytime telly.

Not only that – the shamed vlogger has revealed that he’d love to make a sensational return to I’m A Celebrity!

The 23-year-old was giving his first interview since leaving the ITV reality show last month amid revelations that he’d sent offensive tweets as a teenager.

And appearing on Lorraine this morning, he opened his heart about the incident and suggested that he deserves a second chance.

Last month, Jack was forced to leave I’m A Celebrity just three days after arriving in the jungle, following the emergence of old tweets that seemed to show him making racist and homophobic remarks.

And the YouTube sensation sounded regretful as he spoke to Lorraine Kelly about his eviction.

Referring to the tweets, he explained: “I knew I’d definitely done some really stupid things in the past on social media, and I deleted them around a year before I went into the jungle, but there’s always that chance [they could re-emerge].

“I wasn’t kind of thinking about the weight of those words, what they carried, who I could hurt. I was just retaliating in quite a horrible way. I wish I’d just taken a step back and thought about it.”

He added: “I was just being young, stupid, inconsiderate.”

However, the bad publicity clearly hasn’t put Jack off, as he revealed that he’d love to make a return to the jungle series.

He told Lorraine: “I’ve definitely thought about whether I’d go back on. Now that I’m out, it’s definitely something that I’d love to go and do again and prove myself.

“I didn’t get the worst of it while I was in there. I didn’t get any really tough trials. I was attacked by a leaf, which was pretty traumatising!”

Shortly after returning home from the jungle, Jack issued a video statement, in which he apologised to his fans.

And he insisted that it’s helped to mend his reputation.

He revealed: “I was stuck on a plane for 22 hours with everything in the back of my mind of what could possibly be going on back at home. I just wanted to film the video to apologise about everything.

“People are very forgiving – they knew I’d made mistakes. I think people were very accepting of my apology and they knew it was genuine.

“It was a long time ago. I’ve grown up so much since then and matured as a man. I’m definitely past those days of 16-year-old Jack.”

We await next year’s I’m A Celebrity with bated breath…
