I’m A Celebrity: Start date confirmed for this year’s series

It's just weeks away

| Updated:

ITV has confirmed this year’s series of I’m A Celebrity will start in just a matter of weeks.

TV duo Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly will return to host the show with a fresh batch of celebrities heading into the jungle.

A rep for the show confirmed to Entertainment Daily that the new series will return on Sunday 17 November.

Earlier this week, it was reported that Coronation Street star Andy Whyment had signed up to the new series.

The actor – who plays Kirk Sutherland in Weatherfield – is apparently set to enter the jungle in a few weeks and producers are said to be “chuffed” with the new soap signing.

A source is said to have told The Sun: “Producers are really pleased with the line-up so far, with just a couple of faces to unveil.

“There’s a chance they’ll add a couple more but in previous years they’ve stuck at ten with one or two to follow.

“They were chuffed to get Andrew as viewers have watched him on Coronation Street for the best part of two decades, yet know nothing about him away from Kirk.”

However, a representative for I’m A Celebrity told ED! that the report was just speculation and: “We’ll announce our line up for the new series nearer transmission.”

Another Corrie favourite recently ruled herself out of the upcoming series – even though she is believed to be leaving the soap soon.

Lucy Fallon, who plays Bethany Platt, told the Daily Star Sunday: “I don’t know what I want to do next. I’m keeping my options open.”

Producers are really pleased with the line-up so far, with just a couple of faces to unveil.

Other stars tipped to appear on the show include former Girls Aloud singer Nadine Coyle, ex EastEnders actress Jacqueline Jossa, rugby star James Haskell, footballer Ian Wright and television presenter Kate Garraway.

Radio presenter – and son of Spandau Ballet’s Martin Kemp – Ronan Kemp is also thought to be in the running to be a contestant, as well as Myles Stephenson from X Factor winners Rak-Su.

Last year’s series was a hit when This Morning presenter Holly Willoughby filled in for Ant while he took the year off to focus on his recovery following a drink-drive arrest earlier in the year.

However, Dec will be reunited with Ant in just a few weeks as they head Down Under for this year’s series.
