I’m A Celebrity fans think the show is being cruel to animals after latest trial

Viewers took to social media to vent their frustration

I’m A Celebrity viewers have hit back at the show, branding the latest trial with Vanessa White and Jennie McAlpine as “disgusting” and “cruel”.

Sunday night saw Bushtucker Trail ‘Car Cruel Karaoke’ take place – where Vanessa and Jennie had to put live bugs in their mouths while humming along to songs they were listening to through headphones.

The other contestant then had to guess the tune from their campmate’s humming in a bid to win meals for camp.

During the trial, Vanessa and Jennie put a variety of critters in their mouths, including giant cockroaches, water spiders, stick insects, witchetty grubs, beach worms and a huge yabbie.

The pair even had to hold ‘shots’ of crickets and cockroaches in their mouths until the other guessed both the title and the artist of each song.

Viewers were left surprised at how bad Vanessa was at the trial – especially considering she works in the music industry.

The brave duo won eight out of a possible ten stars – only missing out on the last two because Vanessa didn’t know who sang the songs she was listening to Jennie hum.

But viewers weren’t happy about the fact the creatures were still alive when they were placed in the contestant’s mouths.

ITV has been slated for letting the trial go ahead with creatures that were still living.
