I’m A Celebrity contestant rumoured to be getting TEN TIMES the salary of some campmates

That is thought to be the biggest pay check this series

Amir Khan is believed to be the biggest earner in this new series of I’m A Celebrity.

In fact, the boxer is rumoured to be earning TEN TIMES the amount of some of his campmates.

The 30-year-old is thought to be earning £250,000 for his stint in the jungle.

Although ITV bosses never confirm who is paid what for each series, Amir is probably the biggest name in the camp this time around – and that means the biggest fee.

The only campmate who might be earning the same is believed to be Stanley Johnson, father to MPs Boris and Jo.

Speaking to The Sun, an I’m A Celeb insider said: “There’s a very wide range of payments on the show, and every year some of the top names bag themselves around £250,000.

“This year Amir and Stanley are probably the biggest names, along with Jennie off Coronation Street. But the pay scale slides all the way down to about a tenth of that.

“The least known stars tend to get somewhere around the £25,000 mark.”

That means that some of Amir’s less-famous fellow campmates – like YouTuber Jack Maynard or Made In Chelsea’s Georgia Toffolo – are likely to be being paid ten times less.

And that’s despite the former welterweight world champion previously saying the show is for “has beens”.

His tweet, sent back in 2012, became public knowledge as the new series started last night.

Former Queen of the Jungle Vicky Pattison retweeted it, hinting that the boxer had headed down under purely for the fee, by using the cash emoji.

But given that Amir was said to have a net worth of £18m when he appeared on the Sunday Times Rich List in 2016, that seems unlikely.

It’s more likely that the boxer could be seeing it as a way to get good PR following the very messy and public breakdown of his marriage with Faryal Makhdoom.

The couple are now back together and expecting their second child, but after all the drama played out on social media – including Amir accusing his wife of being interested in Anthony Joshua – he could be wanting to put all that behind him.

Speaking to The Sun before he headed down under, Amir said: “I did a lot of silly things. When I accused my wife of messaging Joshua, it was all just nonsense from the start.

“I lived my life on social media. I assumed things which were wrong and I really embarrassed myself.”

One thing is for sure – Amir will be earning that big fee from the very start, as the public have voted for him to do the first Bushtucker Trial.

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! continues tonight at 9pm on ITV.
