I’m A Celebrity accused of letting viewers down again following galling weekend cancellation blow

Many have had the same thought

I’m A Celebrity was dealt a bitter blow this weekend after ITV was forced to pull the live broadcasts due to technical issues.

Viewers learned yesterday afternoon that there would be no live show for Saturday or Sunday night.

But, as a consolation, ITV revealed it would broadcast highlights shows.

However, this turned out to be a double blow for fans of the show who felt, frankly, that the Saturday night replacement programme was rubbish!

The show spoke to old campmates including Jordan Banjo, Nicola McLean and Matthew Wright and showed some of the old trials featuring the likes of Joe Swash, Stacey Solomon, Katie Price, Kim Woodburn and Ian Wright.

I’m A Celebrity replacement fails to hit the spot

One gutted telly fan said of it on social media: “I fully understand why you’ve had to do this & hope everyone is safe but please just put something else on ITV as this best bits show is unbelievably dull especially after hours of quiz shows followed by Jonathan Ross. Sorry Ant and Dec.”

Another moaned: “Storm Arwen can’t be helped, I’m A Celebrity, but tonight’s programme is absolutely rubbish, you are better than this – there must be hours of unseen footage from this series alone – we don’t need rehashed rubbish.”

A third said: “So I’m A Celeb have done another compilation show regardless of last year’s negative backlash. What a boring cop-out, fk this I’m out of here.”

Yet another sarcastically stated: “Great show tonight, half an hour of people just retching, how entertaining.”

We should probably all give ITV a break, though, as these are pretty unlikely circumstances so there wasn’t much time to come up with a better plan.

Why were the I’m A Celebrity live shows not on this weekend?

ITV revealed in a press release that the show suffered because of technical issues caused by Storm Arwen.

The statement read: “Owing to technical difficulties caused by extreme weather conditions in the area, there will be no new episodes of I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! this weekend (Saturday and Sunday).

“I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! will be replaced tonight and tomorrow night in the ITV schedules by compilation shows (voiced by Ant & Dec) featuring best moments from previous series.”

Where are the I’m A Celebrity contestants?

The rep later revealed: “Whilst we get the production base back up and running after suffering technical issues due to the storm, we have removed the celebrities from the castle.”

There have been no further updates yet, which hopefully means the show will be back up and running and ready to broadcast a live show again on Monday night.

Fingers crossed, everyone!
