I’m A Celebrity star Naughty Boy had ‘just £10 in bank account’ before Deal or No Deal win

He opened up to his campmates last night

I’m A Celebrity star Naughty Boy once appeared on Deal or No Deal and recalled his experience recently.

The star from Watford is best known for the glittering array of music industry stars he has aligned with.

But before his fame as a DJ, Naughty Boy – real name Shahid Khan – walked away with £44,000 from Deal or No Deal.

When was Naughty Boy on Deal or No Deal?

Naughty Boy appeared on the show back in 2007.

Speaking to his campmates on Thursday night’s episode, Naughty Boy said: “When I was in Deal Or No Deal, the morning of my show I knew I was going to play because I left the window open and two pigeons built a nest under the dressing table overnight and when I woke up they were just nesting there.

“When you speak to the banker, he was trying to haggle me. He was trying to get me to settle on my box.”

Naughty Boy added: “My actual box had £35,000. I wanted to take a risk but when I settled on £44,000 I beat him.”

His campmate Kadeena Cox asked: “The celebrity version?”

Naughty Boy replied: “No, no, I wasn’t Naughty Boy then. I had £10 in my bank account.”

Who is I’m A Celebrity star Naughty Boy?

After the appearance on Deal or No Deal, Naughty Boy decided to invest in himself.

He decided to follow his musical ambitions and set up Naughty Boy Recordings and built a studio in his parents’ back garden.

He was also given a grant of £5,000 from the The Princes Trust in 2005 to set up his business.

Naughty Boy eventually switched production to studios in West London and bagged a contract with Sony ATV and Virgin Records.

Within a couple of years he was enjoying chart success working with Chipmunk, Wiley and several times with Emeli Sandé.

Which singers and musicians has he worked with?

Naughty Boy has worked with an exhaustive list of pop stars.

Among those he has produced or written with are Alesha Dixon, JLS, Lily Allen, Alexandra Burke and Jennifer Hudson.

He has also produced for Professor Green, Cheryl Cole, Tinie Tempah, Leona Lewis, will.i.am, Britney Spears, William Orbit, Katy Perry and Rihanna.

Meanwhile he has collaborated with Gabrielle and Ed Sheeran on his own work, including album Hotel Cabana.

Perhaps Naughty Boy’s most memorable hit he has bene involved with was Sam Smith’s 2013 single La La La, which went to number one. He also won two MOBOs – for Best Single and Best Video – for the track.

However, there are even more main event superstars he has worked with.

Zayn Malik, Dua Lipa, Paloma Faith and even Beyonce have enjoyed professional relations with Naughty Boy.

What other TV shows has he appeared on?

Naughty Boy made an appearance in the X Factor final in 2017.

He teamed up with Wyclef Jean and fellow Hertfordshire group Rak-Su to perform Dimelo.

The track was consequently released as the winners’ single.

What has Naughty Boy said about his bond with his mum?

Naughty Boy’s mother Zahida suffered a stroke in 2017 and was diagnosed with dementia two years later.

He has related how they make use of music as therapy to help his mother cope with the condition.

Naughty Boy explained to Sky News: “It’s not the best experience.

“But as long as I get a glimpse of mum, a smile, something that reminds her of a happier day… that’s enough for me right now.

“I’ll do this until the day I die.”

He also reflected on how his mother’s condition has affected him.

“As a family, [dementia] can seem like a lonely experience,” he said. “You don’t think anyone will understand. It does affect your mental health.”

Naughty Boy is also an ambassador for Dementia UK.
