I’m A Celeb stars gag as they’re forced to eat Huntsman spider

The first eating challenge of the series is upon us!

| Updated:

Gagging, crying and looks of horror: it can mean only one thing. Yes, the eating challenge is back on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

Tonight’s episode will see Georgia ‘Toff’ Toffolo and Becky Vardy attempting the third Bushtucker Trial of the series.

And unfortunately for them, it’s the dreaded food trial.

On offer for them to enjoy munching? Five dead crickets, five cockroaches, 20 meal worms, one moth and one Huntsman spider.

Yes. An actual Huntsman spider.

Naturally, the two women looked horrified when Ant & Dec cheerfully revealed their meal, named Critter En Croute.

And, given the theme of the trial was speed dating, they had to demolish it all in just 45 seconds.

Like any normal person, Toff was appalled. “A spider?” she asked. “Oh my goodness. Oh my God. I can’t. I can’t do it.”

But a sneak peek at the trial reveals they get stuck in quickly enough, gobbling up the dead spider first.

We shudder even just thinking about that.

Ant & Dec seemed pretty impressed by the two women’s progress. “You’re doing brilliantly!” they cheered, as Toff and Becky munched away.

But was it too good a start to be true?

Just moments after starting to guzzle, the two began to violently gag, putting their hands to their mouths to stop the, ugh, delicacies coming back up…

“You’ve got to keep it down!” warned Ant, while Dec chipped in: “You’re nearly half-way! Let’s get that plate cleared.”

But with Toff and Becky’s eyes watering and gag reflexes kicking in, is it too late?

We’ll find out on tonight’s show whether they manage to complete the trial and win food for camp.

It’s Toff’s second Bushtucker Trial, after she took on the very first one of the series alongside boxer Amir Khan.

He rather memorably failed the underground Critter-Cal Rescue for both of them by screaming “I’m a celebrity, get me out of here!” when confronted with a snake.

However, he redeemed himself by completing the second Bushtucker of the series last night, a water-based challenge.

I’m A Celebrity airs 9pm on ITV.
