I’m A Celeb star accidentally sets fire to jungle uniform

Someone needs to have a word about fire safety

Poor old Amir Khan’s had a tough time in the I’m A Celebrity jungle.

He’s had to face his phobia of snakes in an underground Bushtucker Trial and battle against time, eels and baby crocodiles while locked in a massive water-filled box.

Now he’s gone and burned his jungle boots.

Bless.

In an exclusive clip aired on Wednesday night’s Extra Camp, viewers saw what happened when Amir got a bit too close to the camp’s fire.

Now, we all know you’ve got to keep your distance when it comes to an open flame.

But someone clearly needs to have a word with Amir as he left his heavy duty boots in close proximity to the fire and ended up burning them!

It was comedian Shappi Khorsandi who first noticed, warning Amir: “Is your boot too close to the fire?”

The boxer, 30, casually insisted, “No, no…” before realising, er, yes, it was!

He had to lean forward and grab the boots away from the flames, catching his fingers as he did it, leaving him smarting.

Vanessa White then shouted: “It’s burned! It’s burned! Your boot is burned!”

Amir took it in good humour, though, laughing: “Do you think they’ll give me new boots?”

Probably not, Amir, sorry!

When asked what the boots felt like on, he joked: “The inside is a bit dry. It’s crusty and stuff.”

Amir got off to a shaky start in the jungle after failing the first Bushtucker Trial of the series.

He screamed, “I’m a celebrity, get me out of here!” after encountering a snake during Critter-Cal Rescue with Toff, meaning he forfeited the task for both of them.

But the star redeemed himself during the second trial, successfully winning food for camp after triumphing in a large water-based task that required unlocking various boxes while avoiding various critters.

I’m A Celebrity airs 9pm on ITV.
