Iain Lee accused of cheating on I’m a Celebrity

What was he trying to say?

Comedian Iain Lee has been accused of flouting the strict no communication rules on I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! with secret hand signals to someone in the outside world.

All communication with the outside world is banned on the show, but Iain’s odd hand gestures to camera have raised speculation that he’s speaking to someone in code.

The comedian has been spotted several times touching his thumbs together with his palms splayed in a striking gesture.

He performed the unusual gesture several times while talking on the bush camera, leaving hosts Ant and Dec looking confused.

He then repeated the gesture while appearing on companion show I’m a Celeb: Extra Camp which reportedly raised concerns among the show’s producers.

But Iain’s sister has another explanation for the gestures – claiming it’s a throwback to 80s star Timmy Mallett.

She dismissed the cheating claims during an appearance on Extra Camp, saying host Scarlett Moffatt probably wouldn’t have recognised the gesture due to her age.

“You’re too young to remember the Timmy Mallet ‘wacaday wave,'” she said. “Unless he’s trying to communicate with Timmy Mallet… He’s certainly not communicating with me that’s for sure.”

He’s not alone in being accused of trying to communicate with the outside world – in fact it seems to be becoming a habit with some of the contestants, if reports are to be believed.

Rebekah Vardy appeared to have drawn a love message on her hat, while Dennis Wise has also used an unusual hand gesture – repeatedly placing his hand over his heart.

Iain’s time on the show has been emotional – he found himself turning to his co-stars for comfort after failing to complete a traumatic underwater challenge.
