Hollyoaks’ Mac Nightingale left for dead, prime suspect son James

Is soap's biggest villain about to meet a grisly end?

They say what goes around comes around and this is always true for the baddies in Soap Land – at some point they always get their comeuppance.

With his track record we’re pretty sure nasty Mac Nightingale’s days of terrorising the Hollyoaks villagers are drawing to a close.

Next week, someone brutally attacks Chester’s premier villain, leaving him for dead in the car park of the The Dog – and judging by these new pictures fresh from the ‘Oaks, it looks like Mac’s own son, James, is the prime suspect.

Viewers were left reeling last night after Mac appeared to KILL Jack Osborne – dumping his lifeless body in the woods after Jack clocked Mac’s burn and realised he was to blame for the recent gas explosion that ripped the high school apart.

But, in the closing second, viewers spotted Jack’s finger twitching, suggesting he is alive.

And it looks like he makes his way to the police with his information about Mac as the bully is arrested for attempted murder and for the explosion at Neeta Kaur’s memorial service next week.

Mac isn’t down for long though as his daughter, Ellie, gives him an alibi leading to his release.

He then infuriates his long line of enemies by smugly declaring that he’s going nowhere – leaving them livid that he seems to have gotten away with his crimes.

But there’s at least one person who decides to take the law into their own hands and Mac’s lifeless body is discovered in the pub car park.

A series of flashbacks will lead up to the discovery and show Mac’s movements during the week.

He has at least one violent confrontation with one of the villagers, including one with his own son James – which most people will think has been a long time coming.

James was abused by is dad throughout his childhood, enduring several brutal attacks.

The two men come face to face next week and, this time, it looks as though James is going to fight back.

Is he going to put an end to his dad’s reign of terror once and for all?

David Easter, who plays Monster Mac, spoke about the events leading up to his attack. He said: “He’s genuinely upset for what he’s done. When he stands up to read his eulogy, he’s in such a mess he accidentally incriminates himself by saying he was with Neeta at the time of the explosion.

“He goes crazy when Hunter turns up, and is then arrested on suspicion of causing the Hollyoaks High explosion and trying to murder Jack.”

He continued: “If Ellie and Alfie found out, Mac would try to convince them that he had to do all this mad stuff to keep the family together.

“He always has ways to deflect and defeat, he is on the edge and nothing will stop him.”

Gregory Finn, who plays James, added: “James would want Mac to suffer over a long period I should think – but when it comes to it, it’s hard to get away from the fact that he is his father.

“He can see Hunter is hurting and tries to convince him to take his revenge against Mac for Neeta – for James, it’s killing two birds with one stone.”
