Hollyoaks villain Duncan James, who plays wife-murdering Ryan Knight, has hinted that his rotten character could murder fan favourite, Ste Hay, before he leaves the soap next year.
Duncan has confirmed he’ll be heading out of Hollyoaks village after two years of playing Ryan as his band, Blue, are touring with Steps next summer (erm – is it 2002?)

And he’s warned fans that his twisted character could get even darker before he departs, even suggesting that he could take out Ste before he scarpers.
In the Hollyoaks winter trailer, there’s a split second where it looks like Ryan and Ste are about to kiss, even though killer Ryan is dating Ste’s sister, Tegan Lomax.
Duncan told The Mirror: “Are you sure Ryan wasn’t about to kill Ste? It could be perceived either way…
“Kiss or fight would be the options but which will it be?
“Maybe they kiss AND fight.”
Ryan already has blood on his hands after murdering his new wife just hours after they’d promised to love each other til death do they part.
Amy overheard Ryan having sex with Kyle Ryder (Adam Rickett) on their wedding day and accused him of cheating and hiding his sexuality.
Ryan held his hand over his wife’s mouth, trying to silence her shouting – but he ended up suffocating her.
At the moment Ryan’s police colleague, PC Armstrong (Andrew Hayden-Smith) is currently locked up for the crime and Ryan is determined that he should stay there.
Could his secret be on the brink of being exposed as Duncan confirmed to The Sun that he’s leaving the soap next year.
“I finish next year and we’re going on tour with Steps so we’ve got a busy year. We’re all doing panto, then back into Hollyoaks, then touring with Steps.”
He added that he has “no plans” to return, saying: “I’ve done two years and I’d like a bit of a breather. It’s quite a tense filming all day like that.”

He also went on to tell the Mirror that his character’s world starts crumbling down and he makes some very dark decisions.
And he admitted that he’s pretty shocked at the direction the writers took Ryan in.
Duncan added: “I’ve got to take the villain to the next level now and I’m doing stuff that is brilliant.
“It’s great because you’d never go around killing people in normal life but to do it in soap life is actually fun.”
Erm, okay, Duncan.
