Gutted Stephanie Waring “confused” by Dancing On Ice skate-off rules

Hollyoaks star was voted off last night

Stephanie Waring has objected to being eliminated on last night’s Dancing On Ice, after Lemar tripped during the skate off.

Stephanie appeared on Lorraine to discuss her appearance on the show, and her disappointment at having to leave.

“I’m really sad that we’ve had to leave so soon, because we did put in a lot of work,” she said. “It is what it is.”

She went on to talk about the support she’d had from her fans, while mentioning the difficulty of having to face off against a friend.

“I’ve had an incredible reaction from fans and Twitter, a bit of outrage,” she said. “I love Lemar and he’s one of my closest friends, and to be in the skate off with him was hard.

“I didn’t want to be in that situation.”

But she also spoke about her confusion at losing the skate off despite Lemar’s fall on the ice.

“I thought the dance off was just based on that skate. I wanted the opportunity to improve, so did Lemar. I was like we can’t make a mistake as it all rests on this one skate.

“I was confused, there was a trip, and yet I’m the one to go home. It’s a lot of hard work down the toilet.”

Stephanie and her skating partner  Sylvain Longchambon ended up at risk after their disco week performance, facing off against Lemar and Melody Le Moal, who were in the skate off for the second week in a row.

When it came time to pick between the two, the judges were torn, with Jason Gardiner saying he wasn’t sure whether to save “stiff” Stephanie, or “messy” Lemar.

In the end he put in a vote to save Stephanie – as did Ashley Banjo, who claimed that he’d been planning on voting for Lemar right up until the end of his routine, when he fell.

But Christopher Dean claimed that Stephanie hadn’t shown enough skating ability, relying on lifts too much, while Lemar spent more time on the ice, and voted for Lemar.

Jayne Torvill – who was this week’s head judge – agreed with her skating partner, and saved Lemar and Melody.

Stephanie bid an emotional farewell on the show, saying “I’ve had the most amazing time, and I’m really proud of myself.”
