Channel 4 viewers were left in stitches after Gogglebox star Mary Killen roasted TV presenter Rylan Clark-Neal with her typically casual savagery.
The programme regular left those watching at home simultaneously gasping and chuckling following her brutal remarks in which she compared the Supermarket Sweep star’s appearance to that of a violent serial killer.
“Who’s the man that does Supermarket Sweep? Can you remember his name?” her husband Giles Wood absent-mindedly enquired as the couch potato critic looked away from his TV.
Searching for the right words, Mary – who, like Giles, prefers not to disclose her age – pondered: “I know that he looks like… who does he look like? The Yorkshire Ripper.”

Mary then went on to follow up her uncompromising comments by suggesting Giles may be in decline after he appeared to mention he’d seen Rylan’s image among the flames of their living room’s fire.
He exclaimed: “I’ve just seen a man that looks like Riley [sic] in Supermarket Sweep. Or John Cleese, in a log, in the fire.”
“Well that’s a sign of mental decay, I think, if you start hallucinating,” Mary hit back.
Some of those watching at home were shocked by Mary’s words
One social media user wrote: “Omg did Giles and Mary just say Rylan looked like the Yorkshire Ripper and then a face in a log in the fire!?! The disrespect! @Rylan #gogglebox.”

“#Gogglebox Mary saying Rylan looks like the Yorkshire Ripper?! WTF 😮,” tweeted another person.
A third added: “Poor @rylan, looking like the Yorkshire Ripper according to @C4Gogglebox’s Mary.”
But many viewers were thoroughly entertained by Mary’s aside – to which Rylan has not reacted himself on social media.
“Lmao – Mary from Gogglebox thinks that @Rylan looks like the Yorkshire Ripper!!?” said one viewer on Twitter.
“Rylan looks like the Yorkshire ripper, brilliant from Mary 🤣🤣🤣 #gogglebox,” guffawed another.
And another, directing their tweet at Rylan himself, contributed: “Yet another Mary from #Gogglebox said you looked like the Yorkshire ripper. Lol. You don’t. But it was funny coming from her 🤣.”
