GMB viewers in stitches over Richard Madeley’s Alan Partridge moment

His comment could've been said by the comedy character

| Updated:

Richard Madeley has been keeping viewers entertained as he stands in for usual host Piers Morgan on Good Morning Britain.

People have been comparing the former This Morning presenter to Steve Coogan’s Alan Partridge and were particularly tickled when he made a comment today that could have come straight out of the mouth of the comedy character.

The father-of-two was speaking to a lawyer via video link regarding the latest Harvey Weinstein sex abuse allegations and asked her to predict what punishment could be coming for the movie mogul if he is found guilty.

“Is the slammer going to slam on him?” he asked.

Viewers thought his comment was ridiculous and took to Twitter to say how much it reminded them of something Alan Partridge might say.

Richard, who hosted This Morning for 14 years with his wife Judy Finnigan, has replaced Piers on GMB for the past week. He’s expected to remain on the show for another week while the outspoken editor has an extended break.

He’s been joined since Monday by Ranvir Singh, who is standing in for Susanna Reid over the half-term school holidays.

During his time off the show, Piers has been in the USA and viewers have been clamoring for him to return asap.

But while some are missing Piers and can’t wait for him to come back, others are much happier with his replacement and have even asked if he can stay.

Richard, who is father to fitness fanatic Chloe, used to be a regular fixture on morning telly until he and his wife left This Morning to present their own evening show.
