Girlfriends viewers HOWLING at TV over huge cliffhanger twist

Warning: MAJOR spoilers ahead!

Viewers of ITV’s newest Kay Mellor drama Girlfriends have been trying to keep up with the twists and turns all series.

Just to recap for those at the back, episode one kicked off with Linda’s husband Micky mysteriously disappearing overboard a cruise ship.

And ever since then, we’ve been trying to figure out what happened to him.

Linda came under suspicion of murdering Micky after a woman – Carole – came forward claiming to have been on the phone to him when it happened.

She also alleged that she and Micky had been having an affair, and he planned to leave Linda.

Poor Linda ended up being pulled in by the police, but was released when it transpired Carole was something of an habitual fantasist.

Furious, Carole broke into Linda’s house and brutally murdered her cat Florence, then held a knife to her throat as she forced her to write a ‘confession’ about killing Micky.

The police arrive in the nick of time, Carole was arrested – and Linda was off the hook!

But then came a MASSIVE twist at the end of last night’s episode.

After learning that Spanish officials had recovered a body believed to be Micky’s, a shocked Linda was told she needed to travel over to formally identify him.

Linda dropped the bombshell to pals Gail and Sue that he HAD pushed Micky to his apparent death.

She said: “I did know that he was having an affair with someone… that Carole.

“Because it’s all true, everything I wrote in that confession was how it really was.”

“You killed him?” asked a gobsmacked Gail, to which Linda nodded sadly.

Viewers were utterly shocked at the revelation, taking to Twitter to share their amazement.

One wrote: “How good was that Linda twist, me and my mum were shocked, brilliant drama.”

Another said: “Linda what have you done. The twists & turns have me hooked.”

Now, this could all be yet another red herring from the show’s writers – time will tell!

The only thing we know for sure is that we need to know how this rollercoaster ends.
