Gethin Jones reveals shocking Strictly secret

You'd never guess it was happening

Every Saturday and Sunday, millions of viewers tune in to Strictly Come Dancing to admire those wondrous waltzes and classy costumes.

But according to Gethin Jones, the success of the show is as much to do with what happens OFF camera as what happens ON it.

And the some-time It Takes Two presenter, 39, has lifted the lid on the magic that occurs when the cameras are pointing elsewhere.

As anyone who watches the show regularly will know, after each pairing finishes their performance, the judges give their opinion on what they’ve just seen.

But while Craig is chastising the cha-cha and Bruno is bouncing up and down on his seat, what we DON’T see is what’s happening in the background.

And clearly, Gethin felt that it was time credit was given where it’s due.

The Welshman tweeted a short video clip showing three members of the crew writhing around on the dancefloor.

No, the figures in black aren’t practising a cool new move – they’re actually gathering glitter into piles so that they can be easily swept away, ready for the next pair of dancers.

They don’t use brooms, as they want to remain as inconspicuous as possible while they go about their business.

And Gethin was obviously impressed, as he heaped gushing praise on the behind-the-scenes heroes.

He wrote: “And a word for the amazing @bbcstrictly team. Phenomenal – the bits you don’t see!”

Needless to say, his followers reacted to the post with a mixture of mirth and marvel.

One wrote: “They’re like sparkly ninjas fighting a war against glitter.”

Another added: “I’m killing myself laughing at this!”

Let’s just hope that Gethin hadn’t been Strictly prohibited from sharing the secret…
