Ferne McCann reveals ‘controversial’ parenting technique for daughter Sunday

She speaks out about the mummy police

Ferne McCann has shared her new parenting technique and has admitted that some people won’t like it.

The Only Way Is Essex star revealed that she has been trialling ‘control crying’ with her 14-month-old daughter Sunday.

Ferne hopes it will help to pacify her little one when she’s not around but she says that she knows it’s not for everyone. The single mum has also hired a sleep nanny to help her out.

The 28-year-old spoke about facing criticism from the ‘mummy police’ in an exclusive chat with OK! magazine ahead of the new series of her show, First Time Mum.

Ferne told the publication: “I actually get a sleep nanny for Sunday and we do this whole control crying thing which is really controversial, but obviously it was my decision to do that.”

She added: “I feel like there is such a mum police out there that love to say: ‘You’re not supporting your baby’s head in that picture’ or ‘Your baby needs a hat on’ – but it’s just like chill guys.

“I’m very very laid back and I think when you become a parent it’s down to you and how you decide to raise your baby. But I am excited though!”

According to site Mumsnet, control crying is a method which suggests waiting five minutes before going in to comfort your crying baby. Then, if the crying continues, wait an extra two minutes each time before going back in to the baby.

Ferne’s reality show gives an insight into her life as a single parent and how she juggles her working life around her daughter.

Sunday’s father is Ferne’s ex-boyfriend Arthur Collins, who was jailed for an acid attack last year.

The Essex girl has been raising Sunday alone and has called her show a “new chapter” for them.

Ferne was rumoured to be dating a new mystery man this week and she was previously linked to Love Island’s Charlie Brake, as well as TOWIE co-star Liam Gatsby.

However, while appearing on the Lorraine show with Sunday today she said she isn’t currently dating.
