Emmerdale star keeps Jamie Lomas jungle romance hopes alive

Who needs Love Island when you have I'm A Celebrity?

There’s been absolutely no hint that any of this year’s I’m A Celeb campers will follow the Katie and Peter route by finding love in the jungle.

Even though rumours ran rampant that show bosses wanted I’m A Celebrity to rival Love Island, there seems little chance right now of any sparks flying.

However, we could all be proven wrong!

Appearing via video link on yesterday’s Extra Camp, Emmerdale’s Anthony Quinlan suggested there’s still time for ex Hollyoaks actor Jamie Lomas to find himself some jungle love.

The men have been pals ever since their Hollyoaks days.

Anthony said: “He is currently single. I wouldn’t like to answer for him but if he’s in there for three weeks in close proximity (to the ladies), who knows what may be on the horizon.

“A jungle romance, maybe?”

There had been speculation jungle bosses wanted this year’s I’m A Celeb to be the sexiest yet so signed up five single stars to maximise the chance of romance.

But out of those five, YouTuber Jack Maynard has left the show, while it’s been claimed Georgia ‘Toff’ Toffolo has secretly got back with her ex.

That leaves just Jamie, comedian Shappi Khorsandi and The Saturdays singer Vanessa White flying the single flag.

Anthony, meanwhile, said Jamie, 42, was doing well in the jungle so far but wished he had more airtime.

“What you see with Jamie is what you get,” he said.

“He’s such an honest character. I don’t personally think he’s had enough screen time yet but as the weeks go on you’ll see a true side of Jamie.

“He wears his heart on his sleeve and he’s very honest.

“As you saw on the first day when Stanley didn’t have a clue he was an actor from Hollyoaks and he shot him down straight away when Stanley asked what a reality show is. Jamie said, ‘You’re on a reality show, mate’. You can see there is a bite to him.”

As for why Jamie would make a good King of the Jungle, Anthony joked: “Have you heard him snoring yet? I can’t believe you haven’t had that on screen. He roars like a lion.”

I’m A Celebrity continues 9pm on ITV.
