It’s been an emotional few weeks – well, lifetime really – for Emmerdale’s Charity Dingle.
And it’s not over yet.
Actress Emma Atkins has revealed that there’s new terror ahead for her character as she endures a scary confrontation with her despicable rapist DI Bails.

In heartbreaking scenes shown earlier this month, Charity broke down as she told her shocked girlfriend Vanessa of the abuse she suffered at the hands of the Detective Inspector.
Instead of protecting her when she needed it, he groomed her, raped her and humiliated her when she was just 14 – and later made sure she ended up in prison.
Yep, pretty vile, right?
In next week’s episodes, Charity begins to worry that DI Bails is lining up Vanessa’s sister Tracy Metcalfe as his next victim…

And she faces her worst fears by confronting Bails and warning him to stay away from Tracy. However, his sinister reaction shows that he hasn’t changed at all…
Now, in an interview with Digital Spy, Emma tells us there’s more horror to come for one of Emmerdale’s most adored female characters.
She says: “Tracy has been asked by Bails to be the face of the campaign [aimed at tackling sexual exploitation].
“Tracy is so flattered to be part of such a wonderful project and she feels that Bails is a fantastic ally in the police, much to Charity’s dismay.”
Emma adds: “You can tell that Charity is shaken by Bails. She tells him to stay the hell away from Tracy. Of course, that’s when the audience see that he manages to instil this insane amount of fear in Charity. He still has that power over her.
“You see some fear in Bails as well, because he knows what a gobby character Charity is. They’re both on the back foot and know they have to play it carefully.”
Tread carefully Charity, he’s dangerous!
Emma goes on to say: “Charity warns that if Bails continues to pursue Tracy, she will tell everyone her story. Bails claims that nobody will believe her, so it’s a stand-off between them both.”
Eventually Bails panics that the horrible truth could come out and make him look bad, so he goes to Charity with a proposition…
