Emma Willis makes ‘unfortunate slip-up’ during serious This Morning interview

But, ever the professional, she carried on regardless

| Updated:

Emma Willis appeared to have an unfortunate moment on today’s This Morning when she got her words mixed up during a serious live interview.

The presenter had been speaking to the family of a missing person and investigator Mark Williams-Thomas when she got a bit tongue-tied.

She meant to ask how someone can “disappear off the face of the Earth” but she fumbled her words, first mispronouncing the word and then accidentally replacing the word ‘Earth’ with what appeared to be a swear word.

Emma, 42, said: “When you see what we have just seen about the case, when a person and a car just disappear off the face of the [bleep] – Earth! with no trace.”

FYI: The word viewers thought Emma said started with an ‘A’, ended with an ‘E’, and had an ‘R’ and ‘S’ in the middle…

The mother-of-three tutted herself as she fumbled to find the correct word while her co-host Rylan Clark-Neal remained straight-faced looking down at his interview papers.

The pair continued on with the interview as if nothing had happened – but of course it didn’t go unnoticed by viewers.

“Can’t believe Emma Willis just said [bleep] twice on TV when talking about this dead serious missing person case,” one wrote.

Another said: “Emma Willis absolutely just said ‘disappeared off the face of the [bleep].’ Bless her I bet she can’t concentrate on this interview now.”

“I can’t actually concentrate on the story now, thanks to that from Emma Willis. Not quite sure how Rylan kept a straight face,” a third wrote.

A fifth felt sorry for the presenter saying: “Oh @EmmaWillis! Discussing a cold case of murder 30 years ago and she asks ‘how does a person and car just disappear from the face of the [bleep]?’ If there was ever a case of worse timing. Oops.”

A joker then referenced to the phrase Emma often makes herself when presenting Big Brother.

“We are live on #thismorning Please do not swear Emma Willis!” they wrote.

Emma, who is married to Busted star Matt Willis, can at least take solace from the fact viewers have been loving her on This Morning this week, swearing and all.

“Emma Willis on this morning has gotta be my fave thing,” said one via Twitter.

“Absolutely loving @itvstudios @thismorning this morning with @Rylan and Emma Willis! Already a well proven and fantastic duo from @channel5_tv but this morning is fresh and exciting thanks to these two,” said another.

A third sang their praises writing: “Emma Willis and Rylan are fantastic on #thismorning I think I prefer them to Phil and Holly!”

Emma and Rylan are currently standing in for Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby while they take a break over the Easter holidays.

Viewers have been impressed with the duo, who are used to working together on Channel 5’s Big Brother and Big Brother’s Bit On The Side.

It’s been Rylan’s big return to the show after taking a three month break to focus on other projects.
