A bad habit ended in a painful problem...

EastEnders actress Lorraine Stanley has revealed a rather ‘awkward’ trip to her local A&E department this week.

The soap star, who plays gobby Karen Taylor, shared the news with her 9,136 Twitter followers on Tuesday night (17 April).

And they were quick to wish her well.

Fans were quick to send their best wishes and enquire about her health.

Even EastEnders’ newest cast member Ricky Champ, who will appear on screen as Halfway’s brother Stuart later this year, tweeted: “Oh Lou. Hope it’s ok darling. See you bright and breezy on the morra x.”

After dozens of people enquired about Lorraine’s welfare, she clarified that her visit to hospital wasn’t anything serious.

She added: “Nail infection…note to self…do not bite your nails!!!”

When some of her fans asked her for tips on how to stop biting their nails, she responded: “Get a nail infection you will never bite them again!”

O-U-C-H! Sounds painful.

Fortunately for Lorraine, her character Karen did not make an appearance during the evening’s visit to Walford, as the soap concentrated on Michelle Fowler’s exit scenes and Vincent Hubbard’s scheming.

Lorraine, we hope you feel better soon and stop biting your nails!
