Ruth Langsford returned to This Morning today following the death of her sister, Julia.

Last month, the presenter told fans she was taking some time off to grieve after Julia passed away after a “very long illness”.

On Monday’s This Morning, Ruth didn’t address her sister’s death but Eamonn offered some kind words.

He said: “It’s very nice to see you back, darling.”

Ruth replied: “Thank you very much indeed,” to which Eamonn added: “Good good.”

The pair then moved on with the show.

Eamonn had also taken to Instagram to welcome his wife back.

He wrote: “My partner is back in business. Please join us for This Morning on @itv from 10.30…. for the next 7, yes I said SEVEN, weeks. Summer is here!”

Viewers took to Twitter to express their delight over Ruth being back.

One person said: “So nice to see you Ruth, hope today goes OK for you.”

Another wrote: “What a trooper Ruth is, after the passing of her sister she’s back at work, respect.”

A third added: “Aw so lovely to have Ruth back.”

Last month, Ruth shared on Twitter: “My lovely sis Julia has sadly died after a very long illness. My heart is completely broken.

“She was the kindest and most gentle soul and I will miss her forever. As I am sure you will appreciate I need to take time to grieve with my family. Thank you for your understanding.”

The next day, Eamonn hosted This Morning alongside Rylan Clark-Neal and became choked up.

He started to read out Ruth’s Twitter tribute to her sister, before struggling to carry on and Rylan comforted his co-star and read out the rest.

He said: “Before we get underway let me explain why it is Rylan and myself today. You may be aware of the terrible bereavement Ruth had yesterday.”

Thanking Rylan, Eamonn said: “No one understands more than our friend and our colleague Rylan, who has been a great comfort to Ruth and a great help by stepping in today for her.”

Rylan said: “We know Ruth is watching and we are sending you all our love, and we love you dearly. And Ruth is going to need time to deal with this.  And so are you, for that matter. But I couldn’t not be here.”

Eamonn replied: “Thank you. Rylan was the first person I phoned when we heard this news, and you are a great support to Ruth on all of this.”
