Another star of hit zombie drama The Walking Dead is expected to leave the long-running US series after much speculation.
Danai Gurira, who shot to fame in 2012 when she joined the cast as the katana-wielding Michonne, is believed to have signed a deal for her last season on the show.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, unnamed sources claim that Gurira's new contract will see her return for the next season – but only in a limited capacity.
The star will reportedly make just a handful of appearances in season 10, which is expected to start airing in October.
Gurira joined the ragtag band of survivors as tough Michonne during season three.
She's since acted in a number of high-profile roles outside the dust-strewn wastes of the zombie-plagued apocalypse, including 2018 blockbusters Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War.
What's more, she's set to return as Wakanda general Okoye in the upcoming Avengers: Endgame and is currently in the process of adapting the novel Americanah – by Nigerian author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie – into a TV miniseries.
Gurira is also a successful playwright. Her 2012 play The Convert, which starred her Black Panther co-star Letitia Wright, recently ended a run in London.
Fans of Michonne and her sword skills shouldn't despair just yet though, as Danai could be part of an upcoming Walking Dead film series.
Broadcaster AMC has previously confirmed plans to bring back former Walking Dead lead Andrew Lincoln for a movie trilogy focused on his character, Rick Grimes.
Lincoln played show protagonist Rick Grimes since the pilot episode in 2010, but departed in the first half of the current season which ends in March.
With the films set to focus on Rick, it's possible that the lovers will be reunited for the silver screen.
The first of the flicks is being written by The Walking Dead's chief content officer at AMC, Scott M. Gimple.
Production is expected to start sometime this year, although no air date has been confirmed and it isn't yet known where filming will take place.
